Louis J. Ledet Jr., 81, a native of Thibodaux, La. and resident of Lafayette, La. since 1991, died Friday, May 15, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife of 19 years, the former Geneva Clemmons of Lafayette; two daughters, Sybil Harrison and Leslie Harmon both of Gulfport, Miss.; two grandchildren, Meghan Smith and Zachary Harrison; one sister, Mae Dugas and husband, Donald of Thibodaux; three step-children, David Clemmons and wife, Juanita, of Arnaudville, Anthony “Shorty” Clemmons and wife, Sandra, of Orange Park, Fla., and Dennis Clemmons of Broussard; and seven step-grandchildren, Michael, “D.J.” and Jessica Clemmons, Dane, Andre, and Aaron Darby, and Sandra Lang.

He was preceded in death by two sons, John L. Ledet and Michael A. Ledet; his parents, Louis J. Ledet Sr. and wife, the former Leoncia Ordoyne, both of Thibodaux; a special aunt, Ida Ledet; and two brothers, Wilton Ledet and Herbert Ledet.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 2 p.m. Monday, May 18, in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro with religious services to follow.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro is in charge of arrangements.
