Mabel Therese Dufresne Melancon, 80, a native of Wallace, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, Oct. 9.
She is survived by her former husband, Allen J. Melancon of Houma; one son, Stephen J. Melancon of Houma; three daughters, Jeanne M. Rhodes and husband Benny of Houma, Denise M. Benoit and husband Peter of Houma, and Charlotte LeBoeuf of Houma; one brother, Alvin Dufresne of Wallace; one sister, Ruth Waguespack and husband Don of Metairie, La.; and three grandchildren, Jeffrey LeBoeuf, Jenna Rhodes and Matthew Rhodes.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Melancon and David Melancon; two brothers, Russell Dufresne and Percy Dufresne; two sisters, Bessie Schexnayder and Joyce Dufresne; and parents, Louise LeBoeuf Dufresne and Ben Dufresne.
She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at Terrebonne Memorial Park.
