Corps of Engineers wins flood fight during Gustav

Mary Helen Allemand Adams, 70, a native of Lockport, La., and a resident of Mathews, La., died Saturday, September 6.
She is survived by her husband, Edward Adams; two sons, Lane Adams and wife Elaine, and Troy Adams; one brother, Jimmie Allemand; one sister, Elsie Charpentier; and three grandchildren, Joshua, Nicholas and Gabriele Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Emily Parr Allemand.
She was a member of St. Hilary Ladies Altar Society and a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.
She was buried at Holy Savior Cemetery in Lockport.
