Superintendents name challenges for new school year
August 2, 2011Matthew Johnson Jr., 81, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Thursday, July 28, 2011.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Church of Christ.
He is survived by his daughters, Helen (James) Terry, Kathy and Jacqueline Johnson and Josephine (Raymond) Edmond; brother, Norman Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Johnson; parents, Matthew Sr. and Onita Johnson; daughter, Rita Ellis; brothers, Roland, Paul and James Johnson and Edward Queen; and sisters, Rose Joseph and Ethel, Annie and Audry Johnson.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, at West Thibodaux Bypass Church Of Christ with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Baptist Church Cemetery in Thibodaux. (Kennedy)
