Max K. Seal, 84, a native of Varnado and a lifelong resident of Houma, La., passed away after a lengthy illness with Alzheimer’s Sunday, Aug. 30, at 4:30 p.m.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Yvette Baldwin Seal; one son, Dr. Lawton A. Seal and wife Janet of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Maxine Verret of Houma; one brother, Leroy “Slick” Seal of Varnado; one sister, Lexie Thomas of Varnado; four grandchildren, Jerrie A. Graves and husband Jeff of Houma, Lawton A. “Andy” Seal II and wife Sarah of Arlington, Texas, Kayleen E. Valure and husband David Jr. of Houma, and Cpl. Max K. Verret and wife Kaegan of Houma; two step-grandsons, Ronald E. Wright and wife Heather of Houston, Texas, and Ryan H. Wright and wife Cindy of Ashburn, Va.; five great-grandchildren, Dustin V. Graves, Ileana M. Graves, David J. Valure III, Lawton A. “Trey” Seal III and Hunter L. Valure; two step-great-grandchildren, Rachel Wright and Ryanne Wright; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, caregiver Kellie Pierre and many, many friends.

He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church in Houma. He was also a respected and known businessman within the community. He owned and operated Seal’s Service Station for over 40 years. He was a 32nd degree Free Mason as well as a Shriner. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for memorials.

Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with entombment at Terrebonne Memorial Park Mausoleum.
