Behind basin restoration, Maloz leads
October 27, 2011Melvin Antoine Scioneaux Jr., 76, a native and resident of Vacherie, La., died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011.
Mr. Scioneaux was a loving husband and father. As an avid sports fan of LSU tigers and New Orleans Saints, he himself was a 2010 Louisiana Senior Olympics Champion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1514 of Vacherie, the Jaycees, 4-H and FFA.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nancy Scioneaux; sons, Melvin III (Lynn), Jason (Tonya), and Gerard (Penny) Scioneaux; daughter, Dena (Jody) Granier; brother, Gill Scioneaux; sister, Mary Poirrier; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Scioneaux Sr. and Olivia Rome; son, Kevin Scioneaux; brothers, Paul, James and Raymond Scioneaux; sister, Nellie Morvant; and one great-grandchild.
Burial was at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church Cemetery in Vacherie. (Landry’s)
