Melvin “Bud” Gibson Dennis, 92, a native of Nashville, Ar., and a resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, December 18, at 12:30 p.m.
He is survived by his son, Melvin “Buddy” J. Dennis and wife Leah of Houma; daughters, Mary Ann Graves and husband Wayne of Houma, and Diane Butcher and husband Kip of Houma; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Dennis and Claridy Mary Cowling Dennis; wife, Gladys Bergeron Dennis; and sisters, Lela D. Barber, Cleo D. Horn and Sim Dennis.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma and was a tool pusher for Texaco for 40 years. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy Seabees during World War II.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, at Chauvin Funeral Home with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.
