Melvin Charles

Melvin Charles, 64, a native of Lafayette, La., and resident of Four Corners, La., died at 9:40 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011.

Mr. Charles was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna Charles; son, Kwane Charles; daughter, Kara Charles; brothers, Arthur Jr. (Annie), Henry (Fannie), Clifton, Thomas (Mary), Claude, Milton and Wallace Charles; sisters, Annie Smith, Corstinee Robertson and Lelia and Selina Charles; five grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Jeanerette, La., with services to follow. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery. (Jones)
