Melvin Rainey, 79, a native of Gray, La., and resident of New Orleans, La., died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans.
Mr. Rainey was a member of Greater St. Steven Church in New Orleans and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by daughters, Donna Rainey and Antoinette Coleman; and three grandchildren.
He is buried at Mount Oliver Baptist Church Cemetery in Gray.
