Corps of Engineers wins flood fight during Gustav

Nathalie Foret Dantin, 73, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died at 1:45 a.m. Friday, September 12.
She is survived by her husband, Hamilton “Ham” Dantin; her father, O’Neil Foret Sr.; two sons, Chris Dantin and Durell Dantin; two daughters, Denise D. Matherne and Yvette D. Dufrene; one brother, Patrick Foret; one sister, Evelyn McNamee; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Julie Chauvin Foret; and one brother, O’Neil “O.J.” Foret Jr.
She was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church. She was awarded Citizen of the Year by the Lions Club.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, September 15, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 16, at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland with mass to follow Tuesday. She will be buried at the church cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
