October 18, 2012Neil Conrad Landers Sr., 80, a native of Salem, Mass., and resident of Morgan City, La., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.
Mr. Landers was a flight mechanic on the U.S.S. Enterprise during the Korean War. He was an engineer for the Apollo missions and worked on the design of the C580 cargo jet. He was a well-known coin collector and was very proud that his family can be traced back to the landing of the Mayflower. He was a third degree Mason and a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his sons, Neil Jr. (Dena) Landers and Joseph (Elaine) Willmann; daughters, Cindy Landers, Ivey (Thad) Compall and Laurie (Sam) King; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joe Anne Landers; parents, Arthur Sr. and Ivy Landers; son, Kevin Landers; brother, Arthur Landers Jr.; and sister, Winnifred MacIsaac. (Twin City)
