Oneida Valdivia Merlos, 71, a native of Jatibonica, Cuba and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, July 24, at 8 p.m.
She is survived by her husband, Angel M. Merlos of Houma; one son, Manuel F. Merlos and wife Martha S. Merlos of Houma; one daughter, Alina C. Merlos of Houma; two sisters, Graciela Mursuli of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Lilia Valdivia of Jatibonico, Cuba; two grandchildren, Manuel “Manny” Merlos II of Houma and Anna Marie Merlos of Houma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro Valdivia and America Clavelo Valdivia; one sister, Clara Garcia; and one brother, Pedro Valdivia Jr.
She was a homemaker. She was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the United Way for South Louisiana.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis No. 2 Cemetery.
