September 4, 2013Oscar “O.J.” Hurst Sr., 80, a native of Osyka, Miss., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013.
Mr. Hurst was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for McDermott and retired after 32 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and family gatherings. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Hurst; sons, Oscar Jr.(Debbie), Herman (Sandra) and Jody (Lisa) Hurst; daughter, Holly (Danny) Caballero; sisters, Anna Mae Savoy and Dorothy Fuori; stepdaughter, Shirley (Ralph) Kufel; 11 grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Hurst; parents, Thomas Sr. and Julia; brother, Thomas Hurst Jr.; and sister, Joyce McComb.
Burial is at Terrebonne Memorial Park. (Chauvin)
