
Cajun Farmers Market asset to Houma’s economy; city looking to expand to downtown

April 1, 2010Otis Charles Pitre Sr., 58, a native of Golden Meadow, La., and resident of Galliano, La., died in Houma Tuesday, March 23, 2010.
Mr. Pitre was a member of the Lafourche Fire District No. 3 Board of Directors, past chief and president of the Golden Meadow Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Galliano Volunteer Fire Department, the Leeville Volunteer Fire Department, past president of the Golden Meadow Fourchon International Tarpon Rodeo, director of the Golden Meadow Family Fishing Rodeo, president of the Louisiana Oyster Festival and past president of the New Krewe of Atlantis Carnival Club.
He also owned Otis Auto Repair and Towing Service. His hobbies included racing, fishing and dancing.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Carol Mitchell Pitre; mother, Rita Naquin Pitre; daughter, Christina (Larry) Duffourc; son, Otis “Opie” Charles Pitre Jr.; three granddaughters; brother, Gustave Pitre Jr.; and sisters, Ethel (Tony) Hebert, Laura Pitre and Stella (Johnny) Hebert.
He will be buried at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
