Philip “Phil” Knight, 77, a native and resident of Raceland, La., Sunday, February 22, at 8 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carmel D. Knight; son, Dwayne P. Knight; daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Knight Thibodeaux; sister, Esma K. Babin; grandchildren, Landy Thibodeaux; Tracy Thibodeaux Barker, Jordan Knight and Derek Knight; and great-grandchild, Logan Barker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lelia Knight Knight; son, Darrell Knight; brother, Norris Knight; and sisters, Myrtle K. Arabie and Velma K. Fricks.
He served with the National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post 349, former past president of the Raceland Lion Club, a former Lion of the Year and a 40 & 8 member. He retired from Avondale Shipyard after 43 years as an estimator. He was a sports fanatic and a workaholic. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday, February 26, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with mass to follow. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home of Raceland is in charge of the arrangements.
