Robert Oliver Nugent, 90, a native of Gold Dust, a former resident of Lafayette, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, October 26.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Rose Girouard Nugent; two sons, William Nugent and wife Dianna, and Clyde Nugent and wife Melissa; two daughters, Myra Regan and husband Harley, and Carol Fay Briley and husband Todd; five grandchildren, Amanda Hastings, Patrick Nugent, Kellie Nugent, Olivia Nugent and Alexa Nugent; and three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Nugent, Andrew Nugent and Paige Hastings.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Matthew Nugent and Lise Morrison Nugent; one brother, Philip M. Nugent; and four sisters, Aline Butcher, Myrtle Bear, Elizabeth DeRoussell and Eloise Mitchell.
Prior to his retirement, he was a production foreman for 38 years for Superior Oil Co. He was a World War II Air Corp combat veteran, serving in the invasion of southern France and a member of the National Glider Pilots Association.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, October 31, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma with a religious service to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
