July 25, 2011Roland J. Mayet, 92, a native and resident of Raceland, La., died at 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
He is survived by his sons, Larry Mayet and Eddie (Kathy) Hughes; daughter, Elaine Vining; brother, Milton Mayet; sister, Yvonne Champagne; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Mayet; parents, Agenant and Lillian Rogers; brother, Roy Mayet; and sister, Elta Slade.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Nativity Catholic Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
