Ronald Louis Jerome Rowland, 83, a native of Kentucky and resident of Thibodaux, La., died Friday, March 21, 2014.
Mr. Rowland was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a retired ballroom dance instructor. He lived in many places but found his true sense of home when he moved to Thibodaux – or as he liked to call it, his “little slice of heaven.” He was a gentle soul who never had much regard for material things. He was happiest with his loved ones by his side, a book on his lap and a clear view out over Bayou Lafourche.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Miki Pfeffer; children, Ronn (Rebecca), Scott and Anthony (Lisa) Rowland, Vicki (Noel) Monjure, Kathy King and Brittainy Klappenbach; stepdaughter, Gretchen (Charles) Caillouet; five grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Rowland and Victoria Bullard; sister, Ramona Hendrix; and former wife, Jennie Rowland.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Thibodaux Funeral Home with services to follow. (Thibodaux)
