Ruby Taylor Callahan Pierce, 96, a native of Butler County, Ala., and resident of Schriever, La., died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.

Mrs. Pierce was one of the founders of the First Baptist Church in Thibodaux and served as the church secretary.

She is survived by two half-sisters, Nellie Ragon and Lena Larrimore; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl Callahan Sr.; her second husband, Lane Pierce; parents, Claude and Frances Walker Taylor; one son, Earl Callahan Jr.; five brothers, Claude, William “Alton,” Irby, Fred and Reese Taylor; sisters, Mary Whiddon and Fannie Taylor; and two half-sisters, Virdthylyn Mayfield and Callie Sullivan.

She is buried at St. Bridget Cemetery. (Landry’s)
