
‘Black Swan’ flick earning locals millions

March 16, 2011Shirley Mae Oubre Simon, 81, a native and resident of Vacherie, La., died Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Simon was a devoted homemaker and avid cook who enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Simon; daughter, Cheryl Simon; three grandchildren, Todd Falgoust, Mitzi (Peter) Oubre and Kristi (Heath) Marse; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla and Rebecca Falgoust, Chase Ordoyne, Britney (Shawn) Shexnayder, Cody Oubre, and Lexi and Karli Marse; and brother, Roland Oubre.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Therance and Clothilde Rome Oubre; one son, Lonny Jean Simon; one great-granddaughter, Mary Oubre; five sisters, Maria Oubre, Celie Chenier, Mildred Landry, Gladys Becnel and Dolores Ockmond; and five brothers, Calvin, Lawrence, Hernest, Clamce and Jessie “J.T.” Oubre.
She is interred at Our Lady Peace Catholic Church Mausoleum. (Ourso)
