Sidney Caillouet, 79, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Friday, March 7.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Strickland Caillouet; daughters, Melanie Nelson and husband, Ron Nelson, of Houma, and Kaye Rabalais and husband, Greg Rabalais, of Oswego, N.Y.; sons, David Caillouet of Little Rock, Ar., and Darryl Caillouet and wife, Linda, of Little Rock; grandchildren, Gina Fitzgerald and husband, Jeremy Fitzgerald, of Houma, Martin and Olivia Caillouet of Little Rock, Mason, Morgan and Mitchell Rabalais of Oswego; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Bradley Fitzgerald of Houma; brother, Edward Caillouet of Kenner, La.; and sister, Dorothy Aranda of Mandeville, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Caillouet Sr. and Pearl Bordelon Caillouet.
He will be remembered fondly by students from Dularge Elementary, Grand Caillou and South Terrebonne, where he taught for many years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Houma for 51 years, serving as a teacher, deacon, and choir member and music leader as well as in other leadership capacities.
