Lenten Gumbo served for 20 years, still going strong
March 19, 2010Thaddeus Joseph Blanchard, 91, a native of Chauvin, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010.
Mr. Blanchard was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II. He was a past member of United Lodge No. 267, the Scottish Rite and American Legion Post 31.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edith Naquin Blanchard of Houma; sons, Glenn of Houma and Darrell (Joyce) Blanchard of Houston; brother, Elmer (Georgia) Blanchard of Houma; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Necia Foret Blanchard; brothers, Wilbert, Cyrus, Rannie and Henry Blanchard; sisters, Villa Robichaux and Mildred Blanchard.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
She will be buried at Terrebonne Memorial Park.
