Theophile “Larry” Ford Jr., 70, a native and resident of Mathews, La., died Sunday, Aug. 16, at 12:30 a.m.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille Ford; one son, Paul “Scotty” Ford and wife Liz Danos-Ford; two daughters, Jennifer Ford and companion Clara Lanegrasse, and Rachel Bemis; one brother, Ray Ford; three grandchildren, Erica Trahan and husband Kiley, Brittany Verret and Shanie Verret; two step-grandchildren, Brandy Bower and husband Wilson, and Jacob Danos; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Breaux and Alyssa Trahan; and one step-great-grandchild, Kameryn Verret.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Ford; father, Theophile Ford Sr.; one sister, Ruth Knight; one brother-in-law, Ralph Knight; and one nephew, Mickey John Ford.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW, American Legion, and Lockport Volunteer Fire Department. He a retired captain with L.P.C.O. and General American Oil Company. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church and enjoyed helping other people and dancing.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Raceland, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
