Timothy Joel Bergeron, 49, a native and resident of Houma, La., died at 7:54 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010.

A 25-year veteran of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, Bergeron had attained the rank of captain within the department. He was a former DARE officer, and worked with the sheriff office’s motorcycle detail.

He is survived by his wife, Kate Williams Bergeron; parents Floyd S. and Josephine Trosclair Bergeron; sons, Stephen N. (Jessica Lynn), Jonathan D. and Clark T. Bergeron; daughters, Kaleigh, JoDee and Kristen Bergeron; grandson, Collin N. Bergeron; sister Judy Faye (Carrol) Anderson; and brothers, Micheal J. (Norma), twin Thomas S. (Debbie) and Jesse P. (Wendy) Bergeron. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and many brothers and sisters on the police force.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sidney J. and Telesia Alleman Bergeron, and Joseph E. and Josephine Pellegrin Trosclair.

He is buried at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery in Houma.
