Velma Landry Rogers, 80, a native of Coteau, La., and a resident of Bayou Blue, La., died Friday, Oct. 16, at 8:05 p.m.
She is survived by three sons, Samuel Rogers Sr. and wife Diane, Elgin Rogers Jr. and wife Wanda, and Scott Rogers and wife Hope; three daughters, Marsha Callahan and husband Randy, Lisa Robichaux and husband Craig, and Druscilla Allen and husband Kerry; one brother, Edward Landry; one sister, Edna Landry Breaux; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Lovell Rogers; 19 grandchildren, Samuel Rogers Jr., Clint Rogers, Shalyn Rogers Davenport, Dennis Rogers, Chad Rogers, Benji Rogers, Mindi Rogers Gautreaux, Alida Young, Becky Ponthier, Adam Callahan, Chase Callahan, Jessica Quatrevingt, Monica Robichaux, Quinton Allen, Shelby Allen, Russell Rogers, Meaghan Rogers Steele, Kendall Rogers and Jordan Rogers; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elgin Rogers Sr.; parents, Tanile J. and Alida Kraemer Landry; one son, Mark Rogers; and two brothers, Jeffery and Lawrence “Pete” Landry.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her life.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, and 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Samart Funeral Home in Houma, La. A religious service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bayou Blue Methodist Church with burial at Rogers Cemetery.
