Vincent Dagate Sr., 85, a native and resident of Houma, LA., died at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2007.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007 at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 to 10 a.m. funeral time, in which a mass will be held, Saturday, March 10, 2007 at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Burial will be in the St. Francis de Sales #2 Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maudry Domaingue Dagate; his son, Vincent Jr. and wife, Sally Cancienne Dagate; his daughters, Victoria LeBlanc and husband, Tracy Sr.,and Rhonda Luke and husband, Patrick; his brother, Anthony John Dagate; his sister, Frances Dagate Waldrip; eight grandchildren, Tracy Jr. and Ricky LeBlanc Sr., Denise Holliday, Gregory and Chad Luke, and Megan, Jessica and Amy Dagate; and eight great-grandchildren, Ricky Jr., Haley, Jacob and Hannah LeBlanc, Brett Wright, Dawson Holliday, and Lillian and William Luke.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Dagate and Victoria Callia Dagate, and his brother, Alex Dagate.

He was a World War II Army Veteran, decorated with the Purple Heart for injuries received in Normandy, France.

He founded Dagate’s Marine in 1949 and was the owner of Nu-Royal Cleaners from 1966-1987.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3700, the Chamber of Commerce, the Terrebonne Historical and cultural Society, T.A.R.C., the Liturgical Environmental Ministry(L.E.M.), an honorary member of the Whiskey Pass Rodeo Association, and a former member of the Terrebonne Sportsman’s League.

He was one of the original donors of Our Lady of the Sea Statue at Last Island.

In his younger days he enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He also cherished his Catholic faith, family, community, and country.

He was a parishoner of St. Gregory Babraigo Catholic Church.
