Virgie Mary Picou, 71, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Cut Off, La. died Sunday, December 16, 2007, at 1:35 p.m.

She is survived by her son, David Guidry; three daughters, Della Shukait, Peggy Falgout, and Janet Guilliot; three brothers, Shedrick, Claude, and Charlie Sanchez; two sisters, Oceana Rhodes and Eula Mae Dufrene; one godson, Edward Sanchez; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Urban Guidry; her second husband Irwin Picou; her parents, Benjamin and Leoncia Schouest Sanchez; one daughter, Barbara Lee; three brothers, John, Ashton, and Edward Sanchez; and one grandson, Robert Shukait.

Virgie was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She was a retired employee of South Lafourche Nursing Home.

Visitation is Wednesday, December 19, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., with the funeral to follow at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She will be buried in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.

Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
