Lenten Gumbo served for 20 years, still going strong
March 19, 2010Warren J. “Black” Curole, 90, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died at 9:41 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010.
A parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mr. Curole was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. He was a retired trawler of 57 years who enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Justilia B. Curole; son, Teddy Curole; daughter, Elaine (Philip) Blanchard; brother, Wilman “Bobby” (Dolores) Curole; three granddaughters, Brandee (Corey) Orgeron, Britanee (Mike) Alami and Maggie (David) Tracy; 9 great-grandchildren, Joseph, Lydia and Teddy Jude Orgeron, Alexa Evelyn and Jawad Alami, and Abigail, Alyssa and Ashlyn Tracy; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gaffie and Odalie Mayet Curole; brothers, Jessie and Welton Curole; and sisters, Juanita Callais and Rowena Curole.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11 a.m. at the church.
He will be buried at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery.
