Raising homes reaches above the threat
April 26, 2011William “Bill” S. Lee Jr., 82, of Lafayette, La., died at 2:40 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011.
Mr. Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Japan most of his military career. During his time in the service, he was a paratrooper. After his honorable discharge, he began working in the oil field as a roughneck in the late 1940s. He retired as eastern division sales manager for Davis Lynch Inc. after 40 plus years of service with them. He was an active member of numerous oil field organizations, LAGCOE, the Houma Lions Club, the Lafayette Petroleum Club, Boy Scouts of America and the National Rifle Association, and supported several veteran organizations. In his spare time, he was an avid sportsman and enjoyed raising vegetables in his garden. He will be dearly missed by his family and all of his friends.
He is survived by his sons, John (Margaret) and Robert “Bob” (Peggy) Lee; five grandchildren, John (Shelly), Marissa, Alan and William Lee and Brittany (Jayson) Summers; five great-grandchildren, Zeik Theriot, Regan and Lillian Lee, and Jay and Jakob Summers; and brother, Larry (Billie) Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and the former Nancy Legg; wife, Dorothy Lee; and one sister, Charlotte McRae.
He is buried at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas. (Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette)
