August 23, 2024It is with everlasting hope, sadness, and acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of our beloved Charlene Russ Duplantis, age 79, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 into the presence of God.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Samart Funeral Home on West Park from 10:00 am until the memorial service at 12:00 pm.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard R. Duplantis, Sr.; children, Anita D. Verret (John), Janie D. Bergeron (Allen); Richard “Richy” Duplantis, Jr. (Priscilla), and Glenn M. Duplantis, Sr.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-granchildren; brother, Glenn M. Russ; uncle, Luby Champagne; and many extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie B. Russ, Sr. and Eite C. Russ; brothers, Charlie B. Russ, Jr., Walton D. Russ, Bruce W. Russ, and Daniel Russ; sister, Janie M. Russ; and great-grandchild, LeRay Duplantis.
In her younger years, Charlene was a meticulous homemaker and former beautician. She loved spending time with her family, and feeding everyone who came by, especially her Sunday visits with Ella Voisin. She welcomed all visitors from the youngest to the oldest. Charlene enjoyed talking about the bible and the good news of Jesus and salvation. She was a faithful servant, a true optimist, and a great encourager, who saw the potential in all people. She had a way of bringing comfort to those who were struggling or suffering.
Charlene will be remembered for her joy of the Lord, her love for family and friends, and her persevering and gentle spirit. While she will be missed everyday on this side of Heaven, we know we will meet again.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Terrebonne General, especially Dr. Fadi Abou-Issa for taking care of Charlene for over 20 years and the staff at Vital Caringb Homecare. The family would also like to thank the Dularge Volunteer Fire Department for their care and compassion.
“Our days may come to seventy years,
or eighty, if our strength endures;
yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,
for they quickly pass, and we fly away.”
-Psalm 90:10
