September 27, 2024James Walton Anderson, 96, a native of Meadville, MS and resident of Houma, LA passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024. At his request no funeral services will be held. A celebration of life will be organized by the family at a later date.
He is survived by his second wife, Dinah Whington Anderson; Children, Nelia Anderson Pitre, Jack Anderson, and Jamie Landry (Clay); 6 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Leonard Victor Anderson, and Gladys Boyte Anderson; first wife Mary Smith Anderson; Sister, Nell Pearl Davis; Brother, Prentis Victor Anderson; and son-in-law, Odelo Pierre “Pete” Pitre, Jr.
He served in the U.S. Army. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather known for his wicked sense of humor, love of NASCAR and passion for breeding and training hunting dogs.
The whole family would like to thank his grandchildren, Theresa, and James for all their help with taking care of GP during the last years of his life. Without their care and support we would not have him as long as we did. And for that we are forever grateful to them both.
He will be forever missed and loved by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
