Jerry Paul Gros, 93, died Friday, September 27, 2024. Born November 11, 1930 he was a native and resident of Labadieville.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Philomena Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM at the church with burial following in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his 3 daughters, Susan (Rick) Cavalier, Julie (Paul) Martines and Cathy G. Stegall; his grandchildren, Jacob (Kayla) Boudreaux, Charles “Chas.” (Virginia) Cavalier, Clint Stegall, Aaron (Kainan) Martines, Hannah (Zack) White and Colby (Phuong) Stegall and his great grandchildren, Ava, Luke and Mia Boudreaux, Danzi Leigh Cavalier, Sawyer, Nora, Rowan and Everly Stegall, Evelyn and Lillian White and Jack and Amelia Martines.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beryl Chauvin Gros, parents, Sylvestre James and Euphrosie Ayo Gros; siblings, Maud Gros, Jacque Gros, Gertrude Lutz, Mae Dietzway, Dave Gros.

Jerry was a quiet, kind, good natured and dedicated husband, father and pawpaw. He was a conscientious employee at Supreme Sugar Refinery for forty-one years and during those years he managed to build three family homes. His hobby was woodworking and during his lifetime he built approximately one hundred grandfather clocks as well as pieces of furniture for the family home.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his Labadieville breakfast friends Mike Landry, Douglas Ohmer, Kerry Loupe, Raymond Blanchard, Harold Templet and all the others whose company and camaraderie brought him great joy. The family also wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Terrebonne Place during his years of residency. Special thanks to Ms. Rita Falgoust and Mr. Royce Pierce for their friendship and daily companionship with our dad and Haydel Hospice, especially Christy and Jody, for their compassionate care during his final days.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
