Kirby Bernard Fabre Sr., 92, a native of Montegut, Louisiana, and resident of Bourg, Louisiana, passed away on October 26, 2024 at Terrebonne General Hospital.

 

Kirby was a blessing to many, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, friend, and mentor. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was an avid LSU sports fan. He enjoyed numerous road trips to the Omaha World Series, camping trips with family and friends through the years, visiting family in Topeka, Kansas and traveling abroad. He retired from Union Oil of California as a Maintenance Supervisor. He met the love of his life, Helen Muriel Hetherington in Topeka, Kansas while serving in the military and they married on May 1, 1954 in Topeka, Kansas.

He is survived by his daughter, Roxanna Legacy (David); sons, Kirby ‘KB’ Bernard Fabre Jr. (Peggy) and Brian Fabre (Connie); brother, Curtis Joseph Fabre; sisters, Lera Fabre Hebert and Una Mae Fabre Hungate (Robert ‘Bob’); 9 grandchildren, Gillian Legacy (Lejeaun), Janna Fabre Truitt (Jeremy), Jordan Fabre (Casey), Lance LeBouef (Angelle), Jamie Fabre LeBlanc (Zac), Jeffrey Fabre (Lauren), Justin Fabre (Jana), Joel Fabre (Kelsey), and Jake Fabre (Samantha); 29 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Muriel Fabre; father, Bernard Fabre; mother, Eula Mae LeBoeuf Fabre; son, Stan Anthony Fabre; brother, Arthur Lee Fabre; brother in law, James Hebert; sisters in law, Betty Babin Sullivan, Gail Bascle Boquet Fabre, and Cecile Fanguy Fabre; granddaughters, Nicole Lynn Fabre and Tiana Nicole LeBouef Solet; and great-granddaughter, Charlee Grace Truitt.

A visitation in Kirby’s honor will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, Louisiana from 9:00 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Montegut, Louisiana.
