Ron Brooks Blood Drive begins 12th year
August 9, 2018The feel-good, complete 180-degree rebuilding story of the Nicholls State University football team under coach Tim Rebowe is no longer just a local tale.
The Colonels have officially gotten the attention of colleagues and foes on a national scale, as well.
Fresh off a playoff season in 2017, Nicholls will open the 2018 season ranked No. 18 in the STATS FCS Preseason Top 25 poll – the first time in more than a decade that the Colonels are ranked to start a year.
Nicholls has familiar company in the poll, as four Southland teams are among the Top 25. The Colonels join Sam Houston State (No. 4), Central Arkansas (No. 16) and McNeese (No. 17) as the league’s representatives in the poll.
The Colonels finished 8-4 last season, but have the eye of the country because they return almost everything from their team one year ago.
For a complete look at the Colonels’ hopes, see our College Guide this week in The Times.
