September 24, 2009A hunter education course will be held this weekend by the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The course is required for hunters age 16 – born after Sept. 1, 1969 – or older.
It is free to the public, and anyone age 10 or older may attend.
The certification provided to those who successfully complete the course is valid in all 50 states.
Saturday’s session will begin at 7 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. It will be held at South Lafourche High School in Galliano.
Sunday’s session moves to the sheriff’s office’s rifle range in Raceland. It begins at 9 a.m. and ends at noon.
To earn certification, participants must attend both days. Tardiness at either session can be grounds for dismissal from the course.
