March 11, 2009The Vandebilt Lady Terriers will play for their first state basketball championship Saturday night.
The third-seeded Lady Terriers defeated the second-seeded Carroll Lady Bulldogs 57-37 last night in the Class 4A state semifinal.
Vandebilt (26-7) will play No. 1-seed St. Michael the Archangel Lady Warriors at 8 p.m. at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum in Monroe.
St. Michael (35-1) defeated the Glen Oaks Lady Panthers 76-35 in the other Class 4A semifinal.
Junior center Theresa Plaisance led Vandebilt with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Also in double figures were Alacia LeBlanc and Allison Crosby with 15 and 10 points respectively.
Senior forward Sybil Washington scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
