May 26, 2011E.D. White High School handed out its athletic awards at a banquet this past week at Envie Restaurant in Thibodaux.
Male Athlete Winners:
Award winners include the following: Stuart Percle (soccer, captain and most valuable attitude), Alexander Morvant (football, captain), Dane Granier (track, most valuable attitude), Grant Chiasson (football, captain), Jessie Grazier (golf, captain), Jacob Rodrigue (basketball, captain), and Chase St. Pierre (baseball, most valuable attitude), Rory Eschete (cross country, captain; tennis, most valuable attitude), Patrick Ledet (swimming, captain), Josh Tardo (track, sprint captain), William Cavell (basketball, captain; tennis, captain), Philip Ledet (football, captain), Jacob Clement (baseball, captain), and Dylan Ledet (football, captain and most valuable attitude; track, field captain).

Award winners include the following: Jennifer Marts (track, field captain), Janie Thibodaux (soccer, most valuable attitude), Lora Monier (cross country, most valuable attitude), Hannah Waguespack (track, most valuable attitude), Brittany Chaisson (track, sprint captain), Taylor Dugruise (cross country, captain; track, distance captain), Jessica Cedotal (volleyball, captain and most valuable attitude), Shay Rivere (volleyball, Composite Academic All-State), and Ashley Tabor (bowling, most valuable attitude), MacKensie Molaison (bowling, most valuable attitude), Alexandra Caillouet (swimming, captain; soccer, captain), Julie Lefort (swimming, most valuable attitude), Emily Albert (volleyball, most valuable attitude), Abby Filce (volleyball, captain), Andree Waguespack (volleyball, captain; soccer, captain), Lauren Bayhi (basketball, captain and most valuable attitude; softball, most valuable attitude), and Emily Chiasson (softball, captain).
In addition to those awards, seniors Dylan Ledet and Lauren Bayhi received the E. D. White Scholar Athlete Award, which is the most prestigious award handed out by the school. Criteria for the award are excellence in scholarship, leadership on and off the field, exemplary conduct both in and out of the classroom, and participation in a number of athletic activities and school activities.
Bayhi maintained a GPA of 3.52. She is four-year letterman in volleyball as a manager. In basketball, she was a five-year starter as both a guard and forward. She was named to the All-District Team all five years and was the Most Valuable Player in the district during her senior year. She was All-Parish for two years, All-Region one year, and Honorable Mention All-State during her junior year. She was named to the 1st Team All-State Team during her senior year and was selected to the 3A Basketball Academic All-State Team. During her basketball career, she scored 1,300 points. In softball, Lauren was a five-year starter as a catcher and first baseman. She was named to the All-District Team all five years and was selected to the 3A All-State Team during her senior year.
Ledet maintained a 4.44 GPA while taking 12 honors courses during his high school career. He is a three-year letterman in football as a fullback and was selected to the All-District Team during his 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years. Dylan was selected to the 1st Team All-Region Team and was named the Most Valuable Player of the region during his junior and senior years. He was selected to the LFBCA All-State Team and the 1st Team All-State by the LSWA during his junior and senior years. He was selected to play in the Bayou-River Parish All-Star Game and was selected as a WWL A+ Athlete. He was a 3A Football Academic All-State selection and a Composite Football Academic All-State selection. In both his junior and senior years, he rushed over 1,000 yards. Dylan has signed a football scholarship with Cornell University. In track, he was a four-year letterman and was named All-District during his 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years. In his senior year, he was named to the 2nd Team All-Parish Team, the 3A Track Academic All-State Team, and the Composite Track Academic All-State Team.
