Local historian revisits WWII submarine warfare
October 21, 2010Anyone looking to do something other than stockpile their candy stash during the Halloween weekend may be in for a treat – and a few tricks, as well.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announced they would hold a hunter safety course October 30-31.
The course will teach Tri-parish residents the basic safety tips a hunter should exhibit when handling their weapons.
The first day of the hunter safety course will run from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Lafourche Parish Training Academy on 751 Goode Street in Thibodaux. On that day, the Sheriff’s Office asks participants to bring a bag lunch.
On Sunday, the class shifts to the Lafourche Parish’s Shooting Range in 3451 Highway 182 in Raceland. That session will be from 9 a.m. – noon.
To complete the course and get certification, one must participate in both classes, be at least 10-years-old and pass a written and practical examination.
The course is free to anyone older than 10, but pre-registration is required. Anyone looking for more information, or looking to register is asked to contact the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office at 449-4480.
