August 19, 2010The summer has not been a good month for the LSU pitching staff.
After losing regulars Joey Bourgeois and Chris Matulis to Tommy John Surgery in July, LSU coach Paul Mainieri confirmed this week that sophomore left-hander Jordan Rittiner has also undergone the surgery and will miss the entire 2011 season.
The move slashes three pitchers off the LSU roster for next season- a roster that was already starved for experience after struggling throughout most of 2010.
Rittiner posted a 4-4 record with a 4.37 ERA in his freshman season. He served as LSU’s top relief pitcher throughout most of the season.
