October 22, 2006Meet Brett Ledet, senior offensive tackle for the E.D. White Cardinals
By MATT LeBLANC
Brett Ledet is a senior offensive tackle for the E.D. White Cardinals. He is a returning all-district selection.
SN: Along the offensive line, you don’t get as much attention as the skill positions, but things couldn’t happen without you guys. How does that feel?
BL: It’s a team effort, and the offensive line knows we’re a big part of it and that without the offensive line it would be tough for anybody to do really good. So, it’s all right. We all know what our role is.
SN: How long have you been playing football, and how long have you been along the offensive line?
BL: I’ve played football since I was about eight-years old, and I’ve always played offensive and defensive line.
SN: Do you try to model yourself after any professional players, or be yourself?
BL: I like to try to go out there and do my own thing. I like trying to be the best I can be, and I watch a lot of pros, but I just like to go out there and try to do my own thing.
SN: What’s it like on the offensive line?
BL: It’s crazy. They never line up in defenses we practice at practice. They always line up different, and you got to know a little bit about the game to play it. It’s who wants it more. If you want it the most you can get it, it’s just what do you want to do?
SN: Who’s your favorite opponent to play, and why?
BL: I like to play Vandebilt. It’s a cross-town rivalry right there in Houma, and everybody gets pumped up for school. Everybody shows school spirit for that game. Everybody goes out, and I like playing against Vandebilt, because that’s our cross-town rival.
SN: What’s your favorite thing about playing here at E.D. White?
BL: I like our fans. Because whenever we’re at home, all of our fans come out. You got parents, you got kids playing, you got the band, you got everybody out there. But when it’s away, a lot of the students don’t go. But when we’re at home, it feels like family.
SN: As a senior, what will you miss most about playing here at E.D. White?
BL: I’m going to miss the friends. Once we all go to different colleges, I’m going to miss coming to the practice field with friends and just going at it with friends and having a good time with friends.
SN: Any plans to play anywhere after school?
BL: I’m undecided right now.
SN: Anything to say about your coaches?
BL: Our coaches, they practice hard. They do a lot of work. They put in a lot of work, and they put a lot into it. I want to tell them thank you, because they put in a lot of time and effort into the program, and we appreciate them.
