January 10, 2007Cody Plaisance is a junior attending Central Lafourche. He plays football and soccer. On the football team, Plaisance mans the cornerback position and on the Trojans soccer team he plays defender. He recently sat down with the Tri-Parish Times and answered questions.
Q: How long have you been playing soccer and football?
A: I’ve been playing soccer for the past 12 years and football for the past 10 years.
Q: What got you involved in soccer?
A: When I was younger, my mom signed me up to play recreation ball in the Lafourche Soccer Association. Even since then, I’ve enjoyed it a lot and continue to play.
Q: What got you involved in football, two years later?
A: I’ve always liked to watch football, and when I saw the chance to sign up for Bantam Football in Raceland, I joined a team.
Q: So far, what has been your favorite memory of playing soccer at Central Lafourche?
A: This season, when we beat Pearl at a tournament in Mississippi. They have been the Mississippi state champions in their class for the past four years, so that was an exciting game to be in.
Q: What position do you play on the soccer team, and what is your job at that position?
A: I play right fullback (defender), and my job is prevent any crosses or shots from that side of the field.
Q: What is your favorite thing about playing football?
A: My favorite thing is just that feeling you get when you go into the stadium and onto the field on Friday nights. That, and getting to hit someone.
Q: As a cornerback, what do you look for before and after the ball is snapped?
A: Before the snap, I look for the offensive formation and what coverage we have to be in, and then after snap I check to see where the ball is.
Q: What are your goals for the Central Lafourche soccer team, this season?
A: For the soccer team, I hope to remain undefeated in district, win district and make a run deep into the playoffs. The farthest Central Lafourche has ever made it is the third round of the playoffs, and I’d like for this team to get past that stage.
