October 4, 2007Thibodaux amassed 355 yards and six touchdowns en route to a 43-6 District 7-5A victory over South Lafourche Friday.
Tigers coach Lenny Ford said his team was finally able to eliminate mental mistakes that were being made in the beginning of the season.
The Tigers got on the scoreboard at 6:23 in the first quarter when sophomore Demon Bolt ran in a touchdown from 21 yards out to cap off an eight-play, 65-yard drive.
Thibodaux’s second touchdown came two minutes later after the team recovered a lateral pass. A Brandon Duncan 5-yard touchdown run four plays later put the Tigers ahead 14-0.
A second quarter interception by sophomore Trovon Reed put Duncan into position for another touchdown. He then rushed the ball to the end zone to cap off his night with a two-point conversion.
Duncan finished out the first half and the game with 12 carries for 72 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Donnie Morgan hooked up with Jeremy Aucoin on a 5-yard touchdown pass to put the Tigers ahead 29-0 heading into the half.
Thibodaux’s Jasmine Williams opened the second half with a quick 63-yard touchdown run.
Reed scored the Tigers’ final touchdown on a 31-yard rush in the fourth quarter.
On the ensuing kick-off, South Lafourche’s Ryan Bagala returned the ball 63 yards to the Tigers’ two-yard line. Quarterback Mark Mayberry threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Pierre with 3:11 left in the game to spoil the shutout.
Jasmine Williams led the Tigers with 108 yards on five carries.
Tarpons quarterback Zack Fillinich was limited to 27 yards passing and only 29 rushing.
Thibodaux (2-3, 2-0 in district) travels to H.L. Bourgeois Friday.
South Lafourche (0-2 in district play) will host Central Lafourche.

Caleb Williams led the Braves with 198 rushing yards and three touchdowns in a big district win.
The high-octane offense of the Braves amassed more than 500 yards total offense against the Gators.
H.L. Bourgeois (3-2, 1-0 in district) hosts Thibodaux Friday.
South Terrebonne (3-2, 1-1) hosts West Jefferson.
Belle Chasse 41, E.D. White 13
Quarterback Blake Matherne completed 19-of-34 passes for 321 yards and five touchdowns to lead Belle Chasse.
The Cardinals (2-3) host Patterson Friday.
Belle Chasse hosts Vandebilt.
Central Lafourche 28, Assumption 27 (OT)
The Mustangs scored a late touchdown to send the game into overtime.
Nonetheless, a failed go-ahead two-point conversion in the extra session proved to be the difference in a tight district matchup.
Central Lafourche travels to South Lafourche next Friday.
Assumption hosts Terrebonne.
Ellender 24, Bogalusa 7
Jesse Turner rushed for 237 yards and a touchdown in a homecoming win for the Patriots.
Jonathan Guidry also scored on two touchdown runs for Ellender (2-3 overall).
The Patriots host Helen Cox Thursday.
Vandebilt 65, Terrebonne 28
The Terriers finished with a total of 546 yards total offense in an easy win over Terrebonne.
Curtis Welch paced Vandebilt with 216 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries.
Vandebilt (5-0 overall) will travel to Belle Chasse Friday.
Terrebonne (1-4) travels to Assumption.
