Several locals continue to shine.
Going into Week 9, the vast majority of local teams still have a shot to make the playoffs if things go their way in the final few weeks of the season. That, of course, should set the stage for some drama as we push toward the end of the regular season and into the playoffs.
Here is where all locals stand, rated by class.
Class 5A:
Terrebonne – No. 16
If playoffs started today: would host No. 17 Haughton

Central Lafourche – No. 33
If playoffs started today: last team out
Need: At least one win to have a shot; maybe two to be safe.

Thibodaux – No. 38
If playoffs started today: Out
Need: To win final two games of the regular season.

H.L. Bourgeois – No. 46
If playoffs started today: Out
Need: The Braves are likely out of postseason regardless of final weeks.

Class 4A
South Lafourche – No. 14
If playoffs started today: would host No. 19 Carencro.

South Terrebonne – No. 38
If playoffs started today: Out
Needs: To win final two regular season games to have a shot.

Ellender – No. 44
If playoffs started today: Out
Needs: Likely cannot get to the Top 32 regardless of final two games.
