All four escaped teens now in custody
July 22, 2018The dream has come true for Houma native Justin Williams.
He’s finally in the Big Leagues.
Williams was called up to the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday morning after spending all of his 2018 season to this point with the Durham Bulls.
As part of the move, the Rays optioned Hoby Milner down.
Williams, a Terrebonne High School graduate, has been in professional baseball since 2013, when he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Since a trade to the Rays, Williams has shined, posting multiple accolades, while also being named to both the Double-A and Triple-A All-Star Teams, including this year.
In Durham, Williams was hitting .267 with 8 home runs and 45 RBI.
He is expected to be available to play in Saturday’s game against the Miami Marlins at 5:10 p.m.
Williams said this past offseason that making the Big Leagues would be a life-long dream.
“All I’ve ever wanted to do is play in the Big Leagues,” Williams said this past offseason. “That’s been my dream for as far as I can remember. It takes a lot of work and you have to put in a lot of time and a lot of effort to get there. I’m living that right now. But I’m motivated and I’m willing to do whatever I have to do to get to that level and luckily, I’m in a great organization that is working with me to make me into the best player that I can be, which makes me really confident, as well.”
