Nicholls archivist was key to solving slavery-era mystery
March 28, 2017Aline Giroir Hebert, 96, a native of Weeks Island, La., and resident of Houma, La., died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.
Mrs. Hebert was a founding member of St. Gregory Catholic Church and taught religion for 15 years. She was the first woman on the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce board of directors and a charter member of the Houma Tourist Commission and VFW, and she chaired the Clean City Campaign, Arbor Day celebration and anti-litter campaign. She was a member of the Terrebonne Association of Family and Community Education and volunteered at Heritage Nursing Home and Terrebonne General Medical Center.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Rhea) Hebert; daughter, Gay Hebert; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.
Burial is at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2 in Houma.
