Suspect charged with rape after inappropriate contact with juveniles
A 52-year-old man is in custody of the Thibodaux Police Department after he allegedly raped female juveniles from 2008-2016.
On March 11, a juvenile victim approached her mother, the ex-girlfriend of Troy Hunt, 52, of 1274 St. Charles St., Lot O, Thibodaux.
The victim allegedly told the mother that when Hunt lived with the family, he would touch her and her sister inappropriately.
Authorities investigated and learned that Hunt and the two victims’ mother dated and lived together from 2008-2016. During that time, authorities said it was discovered that the suspect inappropriately touched and vaginally penetrated both juvenile victims with his hand on multiple occasions.
Investigators also learned that the suspect had oral, vaginal and anal sex with one of the juvenile victims.
On March 29, Hunt was arrested by the TPD, who took him to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.
He is charged with first-degree rape and sexual battery.
He’s held on a $375,000 bond. Thibodaux Police Department said that because of the nature of the crime, it will not release any additional information.
Arrest made after school lockdown incident
A 39-year-old Larose man is charged with domestic abuse after an incident that caused two local schools to be briefly placed on lockdown on Tuesday.
Authorities said after investigating a precautionary lockdown at Larose-Cut Off Middle School, deputies and detectives learned that Dennis Wainwright Jr., 39, of Larose was the suspect allegedly behind the situation.
Authorities said they learned through investigation that Wainwright was agitated on Tuesday and sent text messages to his children that caused his wife to be concerned.
According to authorities, his wife then went to the residence to check on him and upon arrival, she observed that he was holding a rifle.
The woman tried to calm the situation, but Wainwright allegedly because more agitated and committed battery on her, before leaving the scene.
As he left, the man allegedly told the woman he was going pick up his kids from school.
At approximately 1:55 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, LPSO got a call saying that Wainwright was allegedly traveling to the school with a gun.
LCO officials moved quickly and locked down the school. South Larose Elementary also locked its doors, as that school borders LCO.
Several deputies responded to both LCO and Wainwright’s residence.
Authorities then learned that the suspect was actually no longer in possession of the weapon before leaving for the school.
At 2:45 p.m., deputies made contact with the suspect when he returned home, and he was taken for questioning.
At this point, the lockdown was lifted on both schools.
After questioning, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Wainwright on charges of domestic abuse battery.
He was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center and is held on a $25,000 bond.
Suspect arrested after allegedly pulling gun on teens fighting with his younger siblings
A 19-year-old Houma man is in custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after an alleged disturbance involving a handgun.
Authorities were called to the 3700 block of Thomas Drive on March 3 in reference to a call of juveniles fighting in the street.
When on location, authorities learned that there was an adult suspect who arrived at the fight and threatened to shoot the juveniles who were fighting with his younger siblings.
The suspect allegedly had a gun in his presence at the time, and was identified as Darrayon Poindexter, 19, of 3747 Thomas Drive, Houma.
Authorities said an adult male in the crowd eventually wrestled the gun from Poindexter, and no one was injured in the incident. The suspect left the scene prior to deputies’ arrival, according to TPSO.
Deputies patrolled the area, but were unable to locate Poindexter, so they obtained arrest warrants for him on four charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and felony carrying of an illegal weapon.
This past Sunday, a TPSO patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop, and officers observed that Poindexter was the passenger inside of the vehicle.
Upon further investigation, authorities also learned that he was in possession of a handgun at the time of the stop, which added additional charges when taken into custody.
Poindexter was taken into custody without incident on the above-mentioned charges, as well as an additional charge for felony carrying of an illegal weapon for the traffic stop incident.
He is in the Terrebonne Parish Jail on a $110,000 bond.
Suspect surrenders on child pornography warrants
A 23-year-old Houma man is in custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he was allegedly involved in a relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The case started in November 2016 when TPSO deputies were called to a complaint regarding a missing 15-year-old juvenile girl.
During investigation, authorities learned that the girl had been involved in a relationship with a then-22-year-old man, identified as Leroy Joe III, now 23, of 1306 Lee Avenue, Houma.
Detectives received information that the suspect allegedly picked up the juvenile on the morning in question. The suspect had already previously been arrested for carnal knowledge of a juvenile involving the same girl.
After more investigation, deputies obtained warrants for Joe for felony charges of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and child pornography with a juvenile.
The suspect had been sought by authorities for about a week, but he turned himself in at the Terrebonne Parish Jail on March 28.
The suspect remains in the Terrebonne Jail on $150,000 bond.
