Galliano man charged with sexual battery of a child
A 26-year-old Galliano man is accused of sexual battery of a child under 10.
Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office juvenile detectives opened an investigation on Sept. 29 in reference to a complaint that a child had been molested by Jacob Dedon, 26, of Galliano.
Investigating detectives learned that Dedon allegedly had inappropriate sexual contact with a child under the age of 10, which led authorities to obtain a warrant for the suspect’s arrest.
On Oct. 17, Dedon turned himself in at the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux.
He was booked with sexual battery (forcible fondling). The suspect was released after posting a $75,000 bond.
He has been ordered to stay away from the victim in the case.
Thibodaux man wanted for child molestation
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is aggressively searching for a Thibodaux man wanted for child molestation.
On Friday, October 13, juvenile detectives opened an investigation in reference to an allegation of the molestation of a child under the age of 13.
When authorities arrived, they identified Gustavo Melgares, 32, of Thibodaux, as the suspect in the case.
Following investigation, authorities obtained a warrant for Melgares arrest on charges of molestation of a juvenile.
Authorities believe Melgares is in the Houma area in Terrebonne Parish.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts may be asked to submit a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433.
Tipsters do not have to give their name during the call and information which leads to an arrest may net a cash reward of up to $1,000.
