Man arrested for sexual battery

Houma Police arrested Corey Brown, 39, of 1228 Goode St., Saturday after he allegedly committed a sexual battery on a woman living nearby, Police Chief Dana Coleman said.

A woman in the 1200 block of Goode Street told police she awoke to find Brown committing sexual battery on her with his hands and mouth, Coleman said.

Brown ran away, but was caught after a brief chase. He was transported the Terrebonne jail.

Brown was charged with sexual battery, oral sexual battery and resisting arrest.

Message in a bottle

A man awaiting trial on an aggravatedrape charge is facing new charges, including simple battery for throwing his feces at fellow inmates, authorities said.

Incidents early last week at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex resulted in eight counts of storing contraband in a correctional center against inmate Frank Fowler, 37, Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said. Deputies found a homemade weapon, feces in a bottle, additional shaving razors, a lighter and items to make tattoos among the contraband, the sheriff said.

Fowler was charged with two counts of simple battery the next day, after he lobbed feces on two inmates, Larpenter said.

Fugitive nabbed after 2-parish chase

Jarrid Hester, 35, of Raceland, was arrested Saturday morning after tossing a package out of his vehicle window and leading authorities on a high-speed chase through Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes, Lafourche sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Brennan Matherne reported.

The package contained 16.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, the spokesman said.

Hester eventually bailed out of the car and attempted to run away, Matherne said. He was caught and arrested.

Hester was charged on an active warrant for aggravated second-degree battery, as well as possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, aggravated flight from an officer, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer and a stop sign violation. His bond was set at $140,100.

2 charged with attempted murder following shooting in Raceland

Two suspects have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Raceland.

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre said his deputies were called at around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 11 in reference to shots being fired in the Alidore community.

Upon arrival, deputies said they discovered a teenage male victim who had been shot twice, once in each leg.

Through investigation, authorities said they learned that the victim was walking with his friends near Williams Street and Triple Oaks Drive when they were approached by a vehicle being driven by Brandi Johns, 26, of Raceland.

A passenger in the vehicle was Kantrell Hogan, 26, also of Raceland.

Deputies said that the vehicle stopped next to the victims, and Hogan got out and started shooting in the direction of the victims, allegedly striking the teenager in each leg.

The victim was taken first to Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital, but was later transferred to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where deputies said he is recovering.

Authorities made contact with both Johns and Hogan at a residence on Brocato Lane. While there, authorities said they found 1,023 MDMA pills, 12.3 grams of cocaine and 9.4 grams of crack cocaine. The suspects were taken in for questioning, and authorities said they both confessed to the crime.

Both are charged with attempted second-degree murder, as well as possession with intent to distribute MDMA.
