The Rotary District 6200 Conference “Down the Bayou Bash” was hold in Houma at the Courtyard by Marriott from April 19-21, 2018. Rotary District 6200 is comprised of 50 Rotary dubs covering areas from Lake Charles to Grand Isle, including Lafayette and Baton Rouge. This Rotary year’s District 6200 Governor is Martha Collins from the Rotary Club of Golden Meadow. The Houma, Houma-Terrebonne, Houma Sunrise and Houma Downtown Rotary Clubs were the host of this year’s conference. Attendees of the conference were treated to perfect weather for a golf tournament at Ellendale Country Club, a Food Fest of the best dishes from each club at Southdown Pavilion, area tours, and a seafood boil at the Jolly Inn As part of the conference, “Grab Bags of Love” was introduced as this year’s legacy project Bags were filled with non-perishable food items and toiletries donated by the Rotarians. These bags will be placed in a kiosk inside the Start Corporation’s Community Center where the area’s homeless and those in need can access dining critical times. Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million friends, leaders and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change-across the globe, in our communities and in ourselves.
