SPRING FORWARD
April 11, 2017A weekend Easter Egg hunt ended in arrests this weekend after a domestic dispute between a man and woman who had just ended their relationship.
On April 9 at approximately 5:09 p.m., Thibodaux Police Officers were called to Peltier Park in reference to a man allegedly hitting a woman with a bat.
When officers arrived on the scene, they learned that Junius Boyd Jr., 33, of 324 Half Oak Drive, Thibodaux, had ended his relationship with Florence Robinson, 25, of 527 Paula Drive, Thibodaux earlier that day.
Witnesses told police that Robinson arrived at the park and confronted Boyd with a shovel handle in her hand as he was trying to leave his vehicle.
As Boyd was leaving, Robinson allegedly shattered the back windshield of his vehicle with the shovel.
Authorities said Boyd then got out of his vehicle and was struck by Robinson.
In retaliation, he allegedly took the shovel and started hitting her with it, causing a laceration and forcing Robinson to need treatment at a hospital.
Upon learning what happened, authorities arrested both suspects, charging each with multiple offenses.
Robinson is charged with aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, simple criminal damage to property and disturbing the peace.
She was taken into custody once she was released from the hospital for her injuries.
Boyd is arrested for aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon.
No bond has been set for the suspects.
